Behind the scenes at Mass, St. Louise depends on Sacristans, a small group of lay parishioners who prepare the bread, wine and sacred vessels for Mass; help on the altar as needed during Communion; and purify and wash the vessels after Mass. Each Mass has a Sacristan team which does its own training and scheduling. We feel very privileged to serve at the altar. Prayerfully consider joining this Ministry.

How to Serve

To participate in the Mass by being a Sacristan, you must be trained.  For Sunday Masses, this training involves serving alongside an experienced Sacristan until you are comfortable serving alone.  Sunday Mass Sacristans serve one to four times per month, depending on how many Sacristans are on a team for a particular Mass.  Daily Mass Sacristans receive training from Patti Clemen.  Daily Mass Sacristans serve once a week on the same day of the week. No meetings are involved.
