How to serve

Come join us!  You are needed.  Business Meetings are bi-monthly, September, November, January, March, May and June, on the second Tuesday of each month at 7PM in the Parish Center.   Speakers are scheduled on some of the off months.  For more Information on the Social Concerns Committee and the ministries we serve, please contact us at  [email protected] or [email protected], 425-747-4450.

We presently serve and/or fund the following organizations on a monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly basis:

• Bellevue Food Bank
• Catholic Community Services East King County
• St. Vincent de Paul
• Kirkland Interfaith Transitions in Housing (formerly Housing at the Crossroads)
• Crossroads Meal Program
• Harrington House
• Kateri Circle
• Senior Lunch
• Eastside Baby Corner
• We serve and/or fund the following organizations on an annual basis:
• Advent Giving Tree
• Congregations for the Homeless
• Friend to Friend
• Eastside Interfaith Social Concerns Council

We fund the following organizations on a discretionary basis as well as provide them our talent and personal assistance:

• Friends of Youth/The Landing
• Share Wheel (Tent City 4)
• Jubilee Reach
• Backpack Meals for Kids
• Catholic Relief Services
• Manos Unidas
• Lazarus Day Center
• Medical Teams International
• Sophia Way

Policies/Activities in Support of Mission Statement  St. Louise Social Concerns Committee accomplishes its mission by:

1. Serving those in need through various parish and local organizations such as Senior Lunch, Funeral Receptions, Congregations for the Homeless, Congregations for Kids, Crossroads Meal Program, Eastside Interfaith Social Concerns Council, Friend to Friend, Giving Tree, Housing at the Crossroads, Holiday Food, Kids at the Crossroads, and St. Vincent de Paul.

2. Supporting local, regional, national and international service organizations. Through parish donations.

3. Fostering a closer relationship with other churches, synagogues and mosques through interfaith dialogue and cooperative action, such as Hearts and Hammers.

4. Initiating, promoting and supporting ideas and programs in all areas of parish life to help St. Louise become a more serving community.

5. In partnership with First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, operating and supporting Housing at the Crossroads (HAC), a transitional housing program for homeless Eastside families. HAC was created by the Committee to help homeless families attain self-sufficiency.

6. Meeting monthly September through June on the second Tuesday at 7:00 pm in the Parish Conference Room. All parishioners are welcome. The Committee’s fiscal year is July through June.
